Newcastle United legend Malcolm Macdonald has lashed out at club owner Mike Ashley.
Supermac has slammed Newcastle's failure to replace Yohan Cabaye as "sheer madness'' following his sale to PSG.
Macdonald told the Daily Star Sunday: "We all knew Cabaye was going and yet there was nothing done in terms of replacing him. It is an absolute scandal - but it is not Alan Pardew's fault.
"It is sheer madness if they think that is the way they should be running the club. It is not being run in a football fashion.
"Look at Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester City. They do in-and-out business at the same time.
"If Mike Ashley was to sell all his football boots at his Sports Direct business, wouldn't he replace them with new stock?"
