Sunderland youngster Meyler pleased with Premiership breakthrough

David Meyler was delighted with his Premiership debut in Sunderland's 2-2 draw at Blackburn Rovers.

The former Cork City midfielder impressed on the night and came away satisfied with his performance.

"I found out this morning at our team meeting. Obviously there was a few nerves - this is the best league in the world," he told safc.com.

"But the lads looked after me, people like Lorik and Jordan, so I'm grateful to them. It was nice.

"I thought I did okay. I tidied up a bit and tried to play Benty through twice. It was a learning process and I will take things from today."
