Sunderland winger Januzaj out for six weeks

Sunderland's Adnan Januzaj has been ruled out for six weeks.

The winger, who is on a season-long loan from Manchester United, suffered an ankle injury in the weekend's 3-2 home loss to Crystal Palace.

Scans have revealed that Januzaj has sustained ligament damage and is expected to be sidelined until November.

A statement from the club regarding the 21-year-old read: "Adnan Januzaj has been ruled out for a minimum of six weeks.

"In order to assess the extent of the injury the 21-year-old underwent a scan on Tuesday, with the results confirming he suffered ankle ligament damage and now faces an unfortunate spell on the sidelines.

"A Belgium international, Januzaj will now focus on returning to action as soon as possible."
