Jordan Henderson admits Sunderland teammate Danny Welbeck starred for England U21 last week.
The on-loan Manchester United striker was outstanding in victory over Lithuania.
"To be fair Danny was different class against both Portugal and Lithuania," Henderson told safc.com.
"He worked really hard and impressed massively so the two goals and the man of the match award in the second game were his just rewards.
"Danny is looking quick, sharp and working really hard for the team, which are all things he'll be looking to continue."
