Sunderland winger Henderson insists Man Utd, Chelsea rumours did not affect him

Sunderland winger Jordan Henderson insists transfer talk never unsettled him this season.

Henderson's England call-up was the high point of his rise from reserve team regular to first-team hot property, but with the increased exposure came the inevitable speculation linking him with a move to a top-four club, with Manchester United and Man City both reportedly interested.

However, the youngster insists he did not let those stories put him off his game.

He told the Sunday Sun: "I didn't really think about it, to be honest. It's all paper-talk and it didn't really bother me.

"I just concentrate on playing football and deal with that.

You have to learn how to deal with pressures when you're a footballer. It comes with the job.

"I've got the right people around me to help me keep my feet on the ground.

"But, yes, I've experienced a lot this season and I think it has made me a better player and a better person."
