Sunderland target Sakho asks for West Ham exit

Diafra Sakho has handed in a transfer request with West Ham United, according to reports.

Sky Sports says the Senegalese striker wants out and has asked to be sold by the Hammers.

Sakho was the subject of a failed £11million bid from Sunderland but it is understood he is seeking a transfer to the Stadium of Light.

The 26-year-old was bought by Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce from Metz to West Ham in 2014 and scored 12 goals in 26 appearances under 'Big Sam'.

Sakho did not travel with the West Ham squad for their pre-season tour of the USA after complaining of illness and back pain and it appears that his time in East London could be up, especially with Slaven Bilic's desire to sign a big-name striker this summer.
