Sunderland are launching a £4 million bid for Eintracht Frankfurt fullback Bastian Oczipka.
The Daily Star Sunday says former German youth star Oczipka is expected to be in contention for a senior international call-up this season.
Oczipka is one left-back option on Paolo Di Canio's list of targets along with Argentinian Lucas Orban.
The Atletico Tigre defender has not decided between the Black Cats, Villarreal or River Plate.
