Sunderland signing O'Donovan ready for "challenge"

Sunderland have completed the signing of Cork City striker Roy O'Donovan for an undisclosed fee.

The Black Cats have beaten Fulham to the signing of the Republic of Ireland 'B' international.

However, he has become Roy Keane's eighth summer signing after signing a three-year deal.

O'Donovan admitted Keane's influence made him choose Sunderland over Fulham.

"This is a big challenge for me and when the chance came about, I didn't think twice," he told the club's website.

"I had a choice between Fulham and Sunderland but when I spoke to the gaffer my mind was made up.

"I had a knack for scoring goals in Ireland and I have to continue that at Sunderland."
