Sunderland goalkeeper Trevor Carson has joined Chesterfield on a season-long loan.

Spireites manager Lee Richardson told BBC Radio Sheffield: "He's a goalkeeper that has been on our radar all summer.

"Roy Keane has allowed him to join us which we are grateful for. He comes with a good reputation and he'll put Tommy Lee under pressure."
