Sunderland's Poyet does not rue dugout clash with Hull officials

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has no remorse over his touchline incident during Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with Hull City.

The Uruguayan tactician attempted to shake hands with Tigers boss Steve Bruce as he was sent to the stands for arguing with referee Mike Dean regarding a yellow card shown to Jack Rodwell for diving in the 35th minute.

The attempt to apologise fell on deaf ears as Poyet and Bruce clashed but the Black Cats manager felt it better to deal with the situation then and there rather than later on.

"I think it is better to kick a bucket than say something you would regret after, so I have no regrets," Poyet told Sky Sports.

"If it's a bad image for football I am really sorry but I don't think it is something we should worry about."

New Hull ace Dame N'Doye opened the scoring with a clever 15th-minute finish before Rodwell headed home with just over 10 minutes remaining to force a draw at the KC Stadium.
