Sunderland's Bardsey delighted to see Man Utd's Fletcher back in Scotland setup

Phil Bardsley was absolutely thrilled to see former Manchester United teammate Darren Fletcher called back into the Scotland squad last week.

The 30-year old midfielder has not represented his country since November 2012 because of a chronic bowel problem but has won a re-call for next month's friendly with Poland in Warsaw.

Following Fletcher's selection in Gordon Strachan's squad, Sunderland's Bardsley was delighted to have his former Red Devils mate back on the international scene.

"I'm delighted Darren is back. He has been an outstanding player and a first class pro for the past decade," Bardsley told the Daily Record.

"He is also a genuine person. We started out together at Manchester United and went to college together when we were part of the youth set-up. I spoke to him a few weeks ago and he's still the same guy."
