Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore captained the USA to a 1-0 win over the Czech Republic in an international friendly on Wednesday night.
The Black Cats forward took the captain's armband in the absence of Clint Dempsey and played a full 90 minutes as Juergen Klinsmann's side edged the Czechs in Prague.
Nantes midfielder Alejandro Bedoya scored the only goal of the game in the 39th minute to help give the US their first win since beating Ghana 2-1 at the World Cup.
After the match, Altidore tweeted of his honour at skippering his country and contributing to a hard-foughtr victory against a decent European opponent.
Such an honor to captain this team tonight! Well done to all the boys and thanks to the US fans who made us feel at home!! #USMNT
