Sunderland playmaker Reid makes public appeal after prized guitars stolen

Sunderland midfield ace Andy Reid has appealed to the public after two of his guitars were stolen.

Reid has appealed for information after two of his prized guitars went missing from a Durham recording studio.

The skilled musician, who has performed live for the SAFC Foundation at the Stadium of Light, reported the 'blonde' 1975 Gibson Les Paul and 1981 Fender Stratocaster missing last Thursday but police have so far been unable to ascertain their whereabouts.

Andy said: "Most people are aware of my passion for music and the guitars really mean a lot to me. I'm obviously hugely disappointed that they've been taken.

"It's not about the monetary value of them; they're just really important to me. The two guitars are very distinctive and fantastic to play, which makes them extremely difficult to replace.

"I'd appreciate any help that anyone can give."

Anyone with information is being urged to contact Durham Police on 0345 60 60 365.
