Sunderland are set to secure their third defensive signing of the summer.
According to Russian newspaper Izvestia, the Black Cats are poised to sign Nicolas Lombaerts from Zenit Saint Petersburg.
The 30-year old has been heavily linked with a move to the Stadium of Light recently and it appears as though Dick Advocaat will now reunite with his former Zenit centre-back.
Lombaerts, who also played under Advocaat for Belgium, will join Uruguayan central defender Sebastian Coates and Welsh right-back Adam Matthews on Wearside.
