Sunderland boss Roy Keane is chasing West Brom fullbacks Paul McShane and Paul Robinson in a double-raid.
The Evening Chronicle says Sunderland are short of full-backs and Keane wants the Baggies' defensive duo to strengthen those problem areas in readiness for the Black Cats' return to the Premiership next season.
Keane watched West Brom in their play-off semi-final against Wolves last month and ran the rule over left-sider Robinson and right-back McShane.
Robinson has been rated in the £2m bracket and sources in the Midlands say that Sunderland would have to pay around £3.75m to bring both to Wearside.
