Sunderland keen on Rennes striker Gyan

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is hoping to replace the departing Kenwyne Jones with Rennes striker Asamoah Gyan.

Bruce sold Jones to Stoke City earlier this week but has vowed to bring in a quality replacement with £10million-rated Ghana international Gyan at the top of his list although he did not name names when stating his transfer plans.

"I think the big thing for the supporters - and for me - is who am I going to replace Kenwyne with? That's vital. Absolutely vital. I've never asked the question here before because I've never had to, but with the money we've got from Kenwyne, we'll look to putting it back in to a top-class striker, if I can find one," Bruce said.
