Sunderland join Everton in chase for Liverpool flop Benteke

Sunderland boss David Moyes is set to compete with former club Everton in the race to sign Christian Benteke.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Black Cats have followed the Toffees in showing considerable interest in the Liverpool striker who continues to be linked with a move away from Anfield.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has Benteke in his sights in case the club loses Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea but Sunderland will not make it easy for the Toffees to land the Belgian who is valued at £30million despite a disappointing debut season with the Reds.

Moyes is after a powerful attacker to compliment Jermain Defoe and could make his presence felt with a bid for Benteke who appears to be unwanted by Jurgen Klopp ahead of the new Premier League season.
