Sunderland have expressed interest in Matthew Knox.

The Daily Mail says Sunderland have asked to take Manchester United target Knox on trial.

The teenage Livingston forward had his third training spell with United at the turn of the year and while the Old Trafford club ponder their next move, Sunderland have invited the 17-year-old to join them.

Scotland scout Gordon Chisholm has been keen on the talented forward but expected him to sign for united this month.

Knox has also trained with Liverpool, Everton, Tottenham and Rangers.
