Sunderland are ready to drop their pursuit of Rennes striker Asamoah Gyan.
The Daily Mail says Rennes are asking £12m and for that price Steve Bruce would prefer a player with Premier League experience.
Gyan has also been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham.
