Sunderland have enjoyed a dig at Newcastle United fans after the collapse of their expected Saudi Arabian-backed takeover yesterday.
Newcastle saw the takeover of Saudi Arabia's Private Investment Fund from unpopular owner Mike Ashley fall through on Thursday, after a prolonged period of negotiation.
And Sunderland used the announcement of new signing Aiden O'Brien, after the Millwall striker left The Den on a free transfer, to poke fun at their north eastern nemesis.
"After a long wait, there's nothing better than finally getting a deal over the line," the League One outfit wrote, before listing: "Championship experience. A previous promotion. North-London born. Senior international".
The Daily Mail says when listed vertically, the first letter of each of the four items spells 'cans', a phrase Newcastle fans have been posting on social media with fans anticipating opening a few beverages once the takeover deal was complete.
