Sunderland eased into the third round of the Carling Cup with a 4-1 win over Norwich. Three goals in ten first half minutes did the damage and ensured there was no shocks at Carrow Road.
It was 3-0 at the break after Teemu Tainio put Sunderland ahead followed by a brace from Andy Reid.
Wes Hoolahan replied for the hosts but an own goal from Owain Tudur-Jones made it 4-1 before Michael Spillane's red card completed the Canaries misery.
