Sunderland have confirmed an agreement is close for John Mensah.
The Lyon defender is on the brink of a pay-as-you-play contract with the Black Cats.
Sunderland confirmed this morning: "Sunderland are hoping to confirm a deal for Ghana's World Cup captain John Mensah next week.
"A number of reports have been published suggesting Mensah has already signed, but officials have revealed the deal has not yet been completed."
