Sunderland challenge Watford for Inter Milan defender Ranocchia

Sunderland are keen to bring Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia back to England.

After his successful six-month loan with Hull City last season, Ranocchia has been a target for English clubs this summer.

The Italy international has been linked with Watford, where former Tigers boss Marco Silva is in charge.

However, Sunderland are also keen, with new manager Simon Grayson seeing Ranocchia as a replacement for wantaway defender Lamine Kone.

The former Inter captain has also been linked with Genoa in recent days.
