Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia has thanked chairman Niall Quinn for his support in recent weeks.
"Niall gives me a lot of support," Sbragia told safc.com. "He's experienced and he knows how players feel in these situations. He came to the training ground on the Thursday and Friday before the Bolton match and was bubbly around the place. He told me he had a good feeling about Saturday.
"He has been great. He's helped me and taken some of the pressure off me. He came into the dressing-room before the game on Saturday and had a little chat with the players for a minute or two and then came in after the game, too.
"It's nice to see him around the place and the players love to see him, too. As a former striker, he speaks to Kenwyne Jones about situations he's been in, but he's always buoyant - that's the nice thing about him. He's been really good to me.
"I've been really backed up well by the new chief executive, Steve Walton, as well, and I have good meetings with him. We know what we've got to do on the field, but the job would have been a thousand times harder if I didn't have Niall and Steve giving me advice."
