Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is wary of pitching in Ignacio Scocco too soon.

The Argentinian striker joined Sunderland last week from Brazilian side Internacional.

Poyet said: "Scocco is a different one because he has that quality to get between the lines.

"We need to take it slowly with him because he has not played much. He is coming from a pre-season in Brazil so he needs games.

"As soon as I have a chance, I am going to give him time. We are playing here during the weeks too and we need to give him, football, football, football.

"We will manage him in a different way, although we want him involved as soon as possible. His fitness is a factor, though, and his impact will be progressive."
