Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is weighing up dealing in free agent Jonas.
The Daily Star Sunday says Jonas, 30, has now finalised his release from Valencia and has also been linked with Spurs and his former club, Brazilian side Gremio.
Capped eight times by Brazil, he scored the second-fastest Champions League goal - after 10.5 seconds for Valencia against Bayer Leverkusen - in 2011.
Sunderland manager Gus Poyet is still keen to add to his attacking options after failing to lure Fabio Borini from Liverpool over the summer.
