Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is happy to take his time with Paraguay midfielder Cristian Riveros.
Riveros, 28, made just five league starts for the Wearsiders last season, but played in the last two games of the campaign and scored his first Premier League goal in the 3-0 win at West Ham on the final day.
Bruce told the Sunday Sun: "I know if I took someone from England and took them over to Paraguay, they would struggle while they adapted to life in another country and another language.
"But we've given him time to adapt and he's had a chance to come in and play a couple of games at the end of the season."
