Sunderland boss Bruce regrets missing out on England cap

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce admits he regrets not ever being capped by England.

Despite enjoying a glittering career as captain at Manchester United during his playing days, Bruce never received a single England cap.

"I didn't have a bad career and came out of it with a lot of achievements I was proud of," he said.

"But I never got anywhere near a squad and it was a frustration at the time because I would have loved to play for England.

"There were times when I wondered if it was going to be my time, but it never came."
