Sunderland boss Bruce at a loss to explain winless streak

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is at a loss to explain their winless streak.

Bruce's men are without a win in 12 league outings since overcoming Arsenal at the Stadium of Light back in November thanks to Darren Bent's lone goal.

But the Black Cats are unbeaten in their previous three games - drawing on each occasion - and were denied a win at Portsmouth by a last-minute equaliser.

Speaking to SAFC TV, Bruce admitted: "If someone had told me we wouldn't win a game for three months I would have found it quite staggering.

"But we have to get on with it. Since the Arsenal game we've lost big players, but I wouldn't have thought it possible to be on the run we're on.

"We will get on with it and turn it around as quickly as possible.

"We've been close, mighty close. Portsmouth, Everton; I can reel them off. We will stick with our beliefs and I know things will change."
