Sunderland boss Bruce hopes to expand his squad significantly in coming days

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce hopes to expand his squad significantly by the end of next week.

The Sun says Bruce, who has also offered Blackpool's David Vaughan a contract, has agreed deals to sign Birmingham City midfielder Sebastian Larsson, Coventry keeper Keiren Westwood and South Korean striker Ji Dong-won.

Talks are continuing with Manchester United aimed at bringing Darron Gibson, Wes Brown and John O'Shea to Wearside.

And Liverpool are trying to reach a compromise over a loyalty bonus in David Ngog's contract before the Frenchman can complete his switch to the Stadium of Light.
