Sunderland boss Bruce happy with Hutton debut

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce was pleased with Alan Hutton's debut on Saturday.

The Scottish international made his debut against Wigan after signing from Spurs in a deadline-busting loan deal.

Hutton, who signed for Spurs for £9m from Rangers, impressed with his marauding runs down the right and helped lay on Kenwyne Jones' vital equaliser.

"I thought he had a very good debut and obviously he'll get better the more he plays, so I'm very, very encouraged," Bruce told safc.com.

"He wants to get forward, we know that and we are not about to stop him, especially at home. He gives us a very good outlet."
