He says he's more than happy with the impact the Ghanaian international has had in his maiden campaign, backing him to continue to be a big star on Wearside.
"We'd always been chasing Gyan and thankfully it came to fruition," Bruce told safc.com.
"He has acquitted himself very well.
"Asamoah's getting used to the Premier League and used to the culture, having moved from France.
"I'm convinced he'll be a big player for Sunderland going forward."
