Sunderland boss Allardyce expects to keep hold of Man Utd, Spurs target Pickford

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce has no plans of selling goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Pickford has made a big impression with the England U21's and also on loan at Championship outfit Preston. Manchester United and Tottenham are being linked with the youngster.

Allardyce told the Newcastle Chronicle: “It's nice to see him playing in first-team football on a regular basis.

"For a young man, he's played a huge amount of league games, which is a huge benefit to him.

“While he might be in his early 20s, he's got great league experience - not at this [Premier League] level yet.

“The step up is huge, as a goalkeeper. It's one he might be capable of making.

“Hopefully Jordan will continue to do the job and that young man will be Sunderland's regular goalkeeper one day, whether it's under my time or not, time will tell."
