Sunderland boss Allardyce admits Mannone could be on move

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce admits Vito Mannone could be leaving in January.

Mannone is frustrated at playing second fiddle to Costel Pantilimon and reports in Italy suggest that Serie A side Verona are interested in bringing him back to his homeland.

“We're going to have a look at it," said Allardyce, when asked about recalling Jordan Pickford from Preston North End.

“It depends on how long Vito thinks he can sit in that position as number two. He's a frustrated young man who thinks he should be playing.

“What may happen in January may make a difference [to Pickford's situation].

“If nothing happens with Vito in January, we may end up leaving him [Pickford] where he is for the year, playing at that level and playing very well."
