Sunderland boss Alex Neil is interesting Burnley.
The Sun says they will add Neil to their wanted list of managers if they go down.
Neil, 40, is in charge at Sunderland, who could be heading for the Championship themselves.
The Scot impressed at neighbours Preston and also took Norwich into the Prem.
His ability to work within a budget also attracts the Clarets.
Burnley had hoped to land a short-term boss but may now chase the likes of Chris Wilder, Carlos Carvalhal, Nathan Jones and Neil.
The Clarets have six games to save their Premier League status.
