Sunderland are planning a £1 million bid for Aberdeen defender Russell Anderson.

The Times says Sunderland manager Roy Keane may test the water at Pittodrie with an offer in excess of £1 million for Anderson in the next few days.

Middlesbrough, Everton and Fulham are all in the Scotland central defender but Keane could be more persuasive in recruiting Anderson - whom he encountered during his spell at Celtic - to his colony of former SPL players at the Stadium of Light.
