Sunderland ace Darren Bent has revealed how a word from Manchester United legend Andy Cole helped him get over his World Cup disappointment.
From not making England's squad to South Africa, Bent was on the scoresheet in last week's victory in Switzerland.
Bent revealed: "One of my friends knows Andrew Cole and told me he'd always wanted to speak to me, so I gave him a call and he was fantastic.
"He said congratulations on the England goal and gave me a few words about not letting anyone get me down.
"People used to say he wasn't international class. Yet he was playing in the Champions League, scoring goal after goal, and supposedly wasn't good enough for England.
"He thought it was odd. And it is odd, if you think about it.
"He just said, 'Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do anything - stay positive'. It was fantastic to hear that."
