Manchester United's successful pursuit of Paul Pogba indicates that the club can once again challenge those bigger teams in Europe.
The Red Devils have landed the 23-year-old French midfielder from Italian giants Juventus for a world-record £89million fee which suggests to club legend Bryan Robson that the Old Trafford outfit can again reach the top echelon alongside the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
"Many players will still sign because they will see the ambition of the club and where we want to be again," he told manutd.com.
"It is a great signing and the good thing about Paul as well is he knows everything about the club, what the standards are and it will just show everybody in the world we are wanting to compete with the Real Madrids and Bayern Munichs of this world.
"The type of signings we've made this summer show we want to get back there."
Apart from Pogba, United have already captured Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibraimovic under the rein of Jose Mourinho.
