Danny Sturridge's successful debut for Chelsea against Seattle Sounders could sting his new employers.

The Daily Mail says it was a promising start for 19-year-old Sturridge, although his impressive showing may rebound on Chelsea when the 'development fee' is decided as they claim £3m is a fair price.

"I have come to Chelsea to better myself and become a man," said Sturridge.

"I'm tunnel-visioned and the goal for me is to become one of the great players in the game."
