Zidane tells Real Madrid players he's leaving: Decision is 'final'

It's been revealed Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has told his players he will leave at the end of the season.

The Frenchman has informed his squad that he plans to leave Real Madrid at the end of the LaLiga campaign this season, reports Marca. Zidane has made it clear to the players he won't be in charge for preseason this summer.

It's emerged Zidane assembled the players at Valdebebas on the Saturday after their Champions League elimination against Chelsea and before the LaLiga clash against Sevilla. Zidane brought the players together after the training session and informed them of his decision. It's suggested this is why Real Madrid delayed Zidane's pre-match presser for the Sevilla clash later than usual.

Zidane's address to the players has been furthered confirmed by Fernando Burgos on Onda Cero. Burgos states everything was played out on May 8.

Zizou told his squad that the decision was 'final' and it was nothing knee-jerk, insisting he'd pondered for some time about what to do this summer. He believes his time at Real Madrid is over and that it's time to step aside.

Significantly, at yesterday's presser ahead of today's clash Athletic Bilbao, Zidane stated: "There are times when you need to be there and times when you have to leave for the good of all."
