Portsmouth chief Peter Storrie is adamant their star names will only leave for big money.
"Harry knows no player is sold without first discussing it with the manager," said Storrie. "It was the same when we sold Sulley Muntari to Inter Milan. Even Harry (Redknapp) agreed they were offering silly money and we had to accept it.
"We had offers for Defoe and Crouch on the last transfer deadline day, but they were rejected and they would be rejected again.
"I can't categorically say 'No, we won't sell those players in January'. We might want to sell if someone offers stupid money. But we've proved we are not a selling club. We didn't sell Defoe to Tottenham, they sold him to us."
