Stoppage-time Bristol City winner crushes Man Utd

It is a night that will go down in the annals of Bristol City as one of the Championship club's greatest nights.

Korey Smith's swivelling injury time strike saw the Robins advance to the semi final of the Carabao Cup with a 2-1 victory over holders Manchester United.

Lee Johnson's side took the lead early in the second half through an unstoppable Joe Bryan strike.

City fans were in dreamland for only six minutes before United equalised through a deflected Zlatan Ibrahimovic free kick.

The match seemed destined to go into extra time as the clock entered into injury time.

But low and behold, Smith's goal, with the last kick of the game, sealed the win and sparking pandemonium across Ashton Gate, with fans piling onto the pitch, chanting and taking selfies with the players.

For United, the loss may come as a relief as they can now focus their energy on higher aspirations and the gruelling Christmas schedule.

On the other hand, the cup dream remains alive for City and celebrations in Bristol will undoubtedly rage on for the next few days.

Speaking after the game, match-winner Smith said: "Unbelievable I don't know what to say. We played brilliantly like we have all season. I wasn't being tracked when I made the runs forward, I was gutted with the one in the first half but it was a great tackle to be fair.

"I joined when we were in League One with three stands. We have been brilliant this season.

"I'm an Arsenal fan so I want them."
