Stoke City veteran Shay Given is expected to be Republic of Ireland's first-choice goalkeeper at this summer's European Championships following an injury to Newcastle United's Rob Elliot.
Elliot suffered a cruciate ligament knee injury during Ireland's 2-2 draw with Slovakia on Tuesday and is expected to be sidelined for up to six months.
39-year-old Given, who hasn't played for five months due to an injury of his own, could also feature for his club in the closing stages of the season as Stoke's first-choice goalkeeper Jack Butland also suffered an injury while playing for England on the weekend.
Given has a massive 133 international caps to his name with the Ireland team.
