Stoke striker Berahino swaps England for Burundi

Stoke City striker Saido Berahino has changed his international allegiance.

Berahino featured for English youth sides earlier in his career.

But his attempts to break into the first team were unsuccessful.

Now the 24-year-old striker has decided to play for his native Burundi. He moved from there to England when he was a child.

The news comes out of Iwacu, a Burundian publication.

"Fifa have authorised the Burundian international playing for Stoke City to wear the jersey of the Burundian national team," FFB secretary general Jeremie Manirakiza told Iwacu.

"Saido Berahino is an experienced player. Burundi will benefit enormously from his experience."
