Stoke slap £50M price-tag on Butland

Stoke City are desperate not to lose Jack Butland in January.

The Telegraph says Butland, the England goalkeeper, is likely to be a target for top-flight clubs when the transfer window opens after impressing for Stoke in the Championship.

The 25-year-old was warned by Gareth Southgate in September that his place in the national team was under threat after relegation to the second tier.

And after recently signing up with Wayne Rooney's agency, Triple S, Butland's future is again likely to come under scrutiny in the New Year.

Stoke are determined to keep Butland this season and will only consider bids over £50m to review their stance.

Butland could come into reckoning should Everton sell Jordan Pickford to Manchester United and in need for a replacement.
