Stoke City are aiming to trump Ipswich for Sunderland captain Dean Whitehead.
The Daily Mail says Ipswich manager Roy Keane met Whitehead at the weekend.
But Stoke remain keen and could move to hijack Keane's deal for the ex-Oxford United man.
