Portsmouth have added to their meagre squad by signing Stoke defender Carl Dickinson on loan. The 23 year old links up with Pompey boss Steve Cotterill for a season-long spell as the club set about assembling a strong enough squad to compete in the Championship.
The left-back is the second player to switch the Britannia Stadium for Fratton Park for the season following Ibrahima Sonko's arrival.
Cotterill told the club's official website: "Carl's a player I've tracked for a little while and I'm delighted we've been able to bring him to Pompey.
"He's a good young player with Premier League experience and he played a lot of Championship games when Stoke won promotion in 2008.
"It might take him a few games to get going but he's a good lad and I can see him becoming a fans' favourite here."
