Stoke City have approached Reading about a price for Matt Mills.
The Sentinel says Stoke haven't made an offer for the 24-year-old Royals captain at this stage, having made Birmingham City's Scott Dann their number one defensive target.
City remain hopeful of landing both Dann and Cameron Jerome, but talks with Birmingham are deadlocked over the fee.
Should Stoke turn their attentions to Mills, they face competition from Wolves and Leicester, who are both believed to have bid around £3m for the former Manchester City and Doncaster defender.
