Stoke City are pushing to close a deal for Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon.

The Mail on Sunday says Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi is poised to cut short a season-long loan to Stoke City and join a club in the Middle East - paving the way for Lennon to move to The Britannia Stadium.

Potters boss Mark Hughes is eager for a quick resolution knowing Lennon is a target for several immediate rivals.

The 27-year-old winger has been told that he is not part of Mauricio Pochettino's first-team plans at White Hart Lane.
