Stoke not about to sell Shawcross says chairman

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates says there is no chance that club captain Ryan Shawcross will be sold this summer.

Tottenham are believed to be very keen on the talented 23-year old centre-half but Coates has made it clear that the former Manchester United youth will not be leaving the Britannia Stadium.

"We see Ryan's future at Stoke City. He is a very good young player and I expect him to be at Stoke next season," Coates told The Sentinel.

"I think with Ryan and Robert Huth we have two of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, and we don't want to change that."
